| Background |

As a follow-up of the
Steel Workshop held in July 2005, a visit of Steel sector industrialists was arranged to India on the invitation of confederation of Indian industry (CII) from August 18-24, 2005.

The 17 member delegation consisted of stakeholders from Steel industry, a Geologist, Metallurgist, Mine owner etc.
-
During the Steel workshop it was the general feeling that the DRI is the most appropriate route for Steel manufacturing in Pakistan.

- To understand DRI process
- To examine possibilities of Steel manufacturing through DRI process in Pakistan.
- Observe Indian capabilities and know how in DRI plant and equipment manufacturing.
