Secretary Industries & Production has assured immediate steps for solution of major problems currently faced by auto industry. The first meeting of the committee on development of steel industry formed by Engineering Development Board to firm up recommendations for the steel policy was held on august 12, 2008 under the chairmanship of Masood Gul, Patern-in-Chief the Pakistan Melters Association and its convener.  It is prime responsibility of the Ministry of Industry & production to assist and facilitate the industrial and manufacturing sector to promote industrial activity and enhance industrial growth. With this objective in mind MOIP is holding meetings with different sectors of the industry to understand their problems and to resolve them. Mian Manzor Ahmad Wattoo, Advisor to PM on Industries and Production, said this while chairing a meeting with assemblers/manufacturers of auto rickshaw on august 11. The EDB has prepared a blueprint of the long term National Steel Policy to cover the widening demand and supply gap by achieving a production target of 15 million tons of steel by 2020. The government is preparing the first ever national policy for steel sector to exploit its potential besides provide incentives to the industry to enhance its production capacity. The EDB has taken up job to consult the stakeholders of the steel sector to take their input for the proposed national steel policy.  CEO, EDB has urged the car assemblers to strictly adhere to indigenous programme given in Auto Industrial Development Programme.
