COMPETITIVENESS AND EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENT EXERCISE
(BUDGET 2010-11)

EDB, in continuation to
previous practice, has initiated the Competitiveness & Efficiency Improvement
Exercise for Budget year 2010-11 to achieve the objective of “Competitiveness &
Productivity”.
In this
regard

Sectoral Committees on Engineering & Allied sectors have been
constituted with their
Terms of References (TORs) and Guiding Principles. The Committees
are constituted of prominent experts and renowned manufacturers as member
besides having representations from Ministry of Industries & Production, M/o
Commerce, Central Board of Revenue (CBR) and tariff experts in the relevant
fields.
The Committee
is headed by an experienced industrialist/ expert as its Convenor and an officer
from EDB as its Coordinator. The
Committee on Automotive Sector has separate TORs.
The Convenors of
the Committees would formulate and send their proposals, as per the
Tariff Proposal
Proforma (Annexure-II) and
Trade Policy
Proforma (Annexure-III) available on EDB web site in consultation
with
members of the Sectoral
Committee and relevant stake-holders, under the provision of the
TORs, current import policy, 1st Schedule of Customs Act, Laws (SROs),
Customs General Orders (CGOs), FTAs/PTAs, (available at EDB/FBR Web Sites).
The last date for
the submission of the proposals from the respective Convenors is 1st March
2010.

Tariff (2009-2010) is
also available at our website.
Note:
Kindly send
proposals of your Sector to the relevant Convenors at the
addresses mentioned as per the prescribed Tariff Proposal
Proforma.
