Engineering Development Board will field a strong group of premier engineering industries at the world’s leading machine tool show taking place at Seoul, Korea from April 12 to 17, 2006. It is Korea’s largest manufacturing technology – specific exhibition organized by Korea Machine Tool Manufacturers Association (KOMMA) showcasing metal cutting machines, robots, tooling and quality assurance, metal forming machines, factory automation and machining parts.
The event besides developing a know-how of latest technology trends will also provide opportunity of meetings with technology leaders. Industrial visits to a number of quality manufacturing facilities including Hyundai motor company are also part of the program. The exhibition aims at promoting business networks and technical collaboration between Pakistani and Korean manufacturers. In order to improve academia-industry linkage, five professors of engineering universities will also be included in the delegation.
A 3-member delegation of Pakistan led by Mr. Tariq Ikram, State Minister and Chairman of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) attended 3 days international conference arranged by Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI) at Rotterdam, according to message received here today. The others members are Mr. Imtiaz Rastgar, Vice Chairman Advisory Council, Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives and Mr. Abdul Hafeez Chaudhry, CEO, Engineering Development Board (EDB). Mr. Abdul Hafeez Chaudhry Additional Secretary ,Ministry of Industries, Production & Special Initiatives has taken over as Chief Executive Officer, Engineering Development Board on additional charge basis after expiry of the contract period of Mr. Imtiaz Rastgar. EDB has initiated competitiveness and efficiency improvement exercise for the budgetary year 2007-08 to rationalize tariff structure and preparing the industry for facing the future challenges of WTO. Minister Jahangir Khan Tareen formed committee of OVMs & EDB officials to solve differences on tariff given in AIDP. JICA advised Pakistan to focus on high value manufacturing. Pak Industrial sector grows at 10.9 percent during the first quarter of current financial year.
