Rising with Telecom Revolution in Pakistan

About the Event

Recognizing the importance of Telecom Equipment Manufacturing Sector in Pakistan, Engineering Development Board (EDB) has joined hands with Pakistan Telecom Manufacturers Association (PTMA) to bring all stakeholders in this sector to a common platform by organizing a two-day exhibition “Telecom Engineering 2005” on September 26-27, 2005 at Marriott Hotel, Islamabad.

Who should attend?

A unique opportunity for the Telecom Operators, to keep abreast of the capabilities of indigenous telecom equipment manufacturers, the ‘Telecom Engineering 2005' shall provide a platform to converge, network and strengthen the linkages between all stakeholders in this rapidly growing sector. The event promises an excellent opportunity to indigenous equipment manufacturers to pitch their products at a large number of telecom companies in Pakistan as well as local traders who would be interested to collaborate with them for exporting economical Pakistani products in the markets like South America , Africa and Central Asia . Ambassadors and Commercial Counselors of foreign embassies have been invited to the event enabling them to interact with Pakistani manufacturers and discuss the possibilities of introducing these products in their home market.

Who Would Exhibit?

The exhibition would host around 35 leading telecom manufacturers to display their products. Alongside the telecom equipment manufacturers, around 10 top of the line telecom solution providers will exhibit their products and services.

With a view to facilitate interface between specialized product development and training institutes with telecom equipment manufacturing industry of Pakistan, a few stalls have been reserved for them to exhibit their design & development capabilities relating to plastic dies & moulds manufacturing specific to the telecom engineering sector.

For ensuring participation of all stakeholders in the value chain, players from the upstream segment in the value chain i-e plastic dies & moulds as well as other basic raw material manufacturers have been invited to exhibit their die & mould making capabilities specific to telecom equipment manufacturing industry.

Board of Governors appreciated one and a half year performance of EDB. Currently 1500 foundries are operating in the country – CEO addressed the International Foundry Conference. During the International Foundry Conference CEO emphasized on the importance of internships/trainings for students.Five years tariff plan given in AIDP will help the Industry to make long term investment – CEO addressed the workshop on AIDP. EDB to take delegation to metal working show – EMO 2007 to Hannover in September 2007. Minister Jahangir Khan Tareen formed committee of OVMs & EDB officials to solve differences on tariff given in AIDP. JICA advised Pakistan to focus on high value manufacturing. Pak Industrial sector grows at 10.9 percent during the first quarter of current financial year. MIDEST 2006 and Euromold 2006, the leading international trade shows opened new avenues for Pakistan’s engineering sector  Youth Business International Mentor’s Program of Prince Charles started its operations in Pakistan.
